Dan is a NIDA-graduate designer across the full spectrum of the arts, designing sets, costumes, concepts and animation for opera, theatre, large scale events, dance and film. Dan has received six Helpmann Award nominations for his design work in opera and theatre.

International opera and theatre productions include CYRANO DE BERGERAC for the National Theatre of Greece, SWEENEY TODD at Southbank London, THE BARBER OF SEVILLE for Houston Grand Opera, DOUBLE IT, directed by Shi Zheng in China, HOFFMANS ADVENTURE (Folkoperan), DRACULA (Royal Swedish Opera), BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Malmo Opera) THE DEER OF NINE COLOURS (People’s Art Theatre of Wuhan) and the 2021 MANCHESTER DAY PARADE.

Dan has designed large scale sporting and cultural events such as the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup opening ceremony, Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and CLUSTERS OF LIGHT in Egypt. He also designed ceremony segments for the 2018 and 2006 Commonwealth Games, as well as the opening of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Dan also designed the costumes and projections for the Global Creatures / Dreamworks US stage adaptation of HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, A PERFECT AMERICAN by Philip Glass. Dan has also worked extensively with Opera Australia including LA BOHEME on Sydney Harbour, BRETT WHITELY, TURANDOT and SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE: THE OPERA.

Dan has recently completed designs for productions of SHAUN THE SHEEP (Circa), ELVIS: A MUSICAL REVOLUTION (DVE) THE TEMPEST (Imagineer) and THE JUNGLE BOOK (Disney).
